I was watching "Not Yours to Give", the story of Davey Crockett's maturation as an American politician produced by WRI in the '80's, when I remembered a similar story about Grover Cleveland. In the process of researching it, I found this website containing some stunning quotes by Cleveland, especially considering he was a Democrat. Really underscores how times have changed. Here's a simple, folksy yet profound example:
